What to Wear While Getting Ready on Your Wedding Morning

Long after the day itself, brides tell us the same thing: the morning photographs are the ones they return to. Hair pins on the dresser, someone laughing in the next room, the dress still hanging on the wardrobe door. What you are wearing in those frames matters.
Choose something that comes off easily
This is the practical rule that outranks all others. Nothing over the head once hair and makeup are done. A robe that unties, or a button-through nightshirt, saves the veil and everyone's nerves.
Ivory, white or blush?
Ivory photographs warmest against most skin tones and sits beautifully next to the dress without competing with it. White is crisper and very fresh in daylight. Blush is lovely for the bridesmaids, giving a soft contrast in group photographs.
Wear something you would happily keep — the morning should not be the only time you see it.
What the photographs like
- Natural fabrics — cotton and charmeuse satin catch morning light kindly
- A little movement in the hem or the sleeve
- Lace at the cuff rather than a heavily printed fabric
- Matching or tonal pieces for the bridal party so the group reads calmly
For the girls beside you
Bridal party robes double as the gift — worn on the morning, kept afterwards. Order early enough for monogramming, and choose one length so the group photographs sit evenly.
